I was born in Paso in 1954. My family were original pioneers who settled in Adelaida in 1882. My parents divorced when I was a toddler and I grew up in San Diego where I attended high school. I attended Stanford University where I earned a bachelors degree in English and a masters in Education. I taught English and was a Dean and Assistant Principal in south San Diego until moving home to Adelaida in 1987 to become Principal of Templeton High and later superintendent of schools there. I also completed my doctorate at USC. I later served as superintendent in Taft and San Miguel . I have just begun my second year as superintendent in Paso.
My wife runs our family winery in Adelaida and we have nine grandchildren, seven of whom live in the county.
